Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
