From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
